We read everything and reply to most things within a few days. We are a small operation, so we cannot give individual emergency advice; in an emergency, call 999, and for official guidance use the sources linked on every page.
Spotted a mistake?
Please tell us: the page, the sentence, and what it should say, with a source if you have one. Numbers, phone lines and procedures change, and a correction from a reader is the fastest way we find out.
Press
The press page has the key figures, quotes you can use and images. We are happy to comment on household preparedness, the government's three-day guidance and what it means in practice. The kit calculator gives quotable quantities for any household size, and the printables may be reproduced with credit and a link.
Councils, schools and community groups
Print and distribute the printables freely. If you would like a version with your organisation's details added, or want to embed the calculator on your own site, email us and we will sort it out at no charge.
Retailers and brands
We do not take payment for placement, and we do not review individual products. The recommended kit page describes what to look for in a type of item rather than endorsing brands. If you make something that genuinely meets the government's guidance better or more cheaply, we are interested to hear, but it will not change what we write.
